Mystic Depletion

An item created with a limited amount of charges that can be used in some way has wear over time represented as Mystic Depletion. Simple Mystic Depletion is represented as an object only having a Final Depletion check that is made if an item has all charges expended. Failing this check results in the loss of an item’s enchantments at minimum, sometimes resulting in Mystic Backlash.

Mystic Depletion – Open

The most common approach; All items have either 50 or 100 charge maximum (minus those used by a previous owner(s) when found), and charges must be “recharged” by an appropriate practitioner. The owner must pay an appropriate mystic practitioner an amount equal to {Cost Portion} per 5 charges or portion thereof restored. If any function (spell) has a specific required material cost associated with it, this is an additional cost for each charging.

Mystic Depletion – Closed

Items with charges that regain them each day: Each day that goes by when an item does not have its full charges, make a Depletion check. If it is equal to or less than the number of charges it is down, the item has its maximum charges reduced by 1 (dropping to zero this way destroys the item, possibly resulting in Mystic Backlash).
