History – The story of acquiring the Primer #1

Since you are starting at 3rd level, it will add +3 years to your characters age. You begin play as a hardened character. We can assume since you are single class, you have been studying the primer the whole time, thats +3 months of age.

Your character was one of those left at the entrance to a briarwood of the wyld faith. Around 4 or 5 years old, your mother gave you the dreams of the black mother – a soup that clouds the memory. She was able to push you along submissively and sit you outside the great thorny briarwood in Torrelson’s Ford at midnight. The sun was terrifying, and you were found in a fetal position, crying and scared. The Druids raised you, as they do for so many half breeds (elves and orks). You were a bit of a wild child, with a penchant for ignoring the words of wisdom they tried to instill. Yet, you were always there, whenever a ceremony or ritual was made, you stood watch and slowly the people came to barely tolerate you when you were outside. All your life, you had known that the Barony of Crestwold was part of the Duchy of Dunstrand, and that they were at war with Imperial Gwinn. In the last couple years though, war has finally come. Your association with the Green Church has kept you from being drafted into local levies – though there has been grumbling by many to send you into the fight to get rid of you. You have escorted priests into combat against the marines of Gwinn on the edge of the sea, in the great Pranin Moorswood and in the western reaches of the territory of Torrelsons Ford. You have served valiantly using your Darkvision on guard and escort/messenger duty. During this time, Graeldin, warden of the Briarwood in Torrelson’s Ford sat you down and told you that he knew you had always envied the magical abilities of the priests, but never had an aptitude for prayer or ritual. To protect you, he was going to give you a gift of a magical primer that he had bought for you, a relic from a dead mage of the Order of the Wavewatchers – stripped from the enemy. You have watched as a couple elite teams have come, fought, and been killed. After the last group vanished, and only a single survivor returned – teleporting in magically from far in the south – the protections of the green church were not enough. The entire barony was being rallied and formed up in a matter of weeks. Graeldin sends you to the capital of the Earl of Bar-Innis: Mev. Under the auspices of dropping a message at the Briarwood there, but he says to not come back. Seek out your fortunes, for if you return you will surely be used as fodder in the front lines. You travel slowly, making the last study of the Primer that has been under your pillow for years – the object of your nighttime studies. A writing kit and the spellbook you have been creating with you, putting the finishing touches. Two weeks later, you arrive at night in Mev. The place is teaming, and it’s unwalled. Several Times you are stopped by guardsmen, but your credentials prepared for you get you through. You deliver the packet to the Briarwild in Mev, and are told to wait. An hour later, a man comes to see you. “We thank you for your service. I give you this (he hands you a waterproofed pack) for your service. War has beggared all of us, but it is something. Heralds, skaalds and bards are gathering, and a great announcement is to be made tomorrow. I recommend you leave the city before dawn, and wait to hear what the announcement is. Act accordingly after, and fare thee well. Return home someday, you will be missed.” The pack is a full waterproof 2 person tent, a couple hats, a potion of healing, a waterproof satchel with some Green Church prayers and illustrations, all-weather boots, and a hooded poncho.

– We can fill in blanks, but what do you think for a start?

History – Character Creation

I got my ability scores and name. The Half Orc Arcane Trickster is named Arbor Shadoulocke (pronounced ‘shadowlock’). I added and subtracted the modifiers after a 27 point buy and the following are what I came up with: Strength 14, Dexterity 15, Constitution 12, Intelligence 13, Wisdom 12, Charisma 8 and Sanity 9. I am working on the rest of character creation and will email you scans of my character sheet when finished.
