Background

Father was a captured (by Merchant Cities) mercenary from Gwinn’s service. He was released and settled locally. His mother
died in childbirth and he is an only child as his father died when he was 14 from the flu. He inherited his father’s ways and always believed he would be a mercenary too. Almost all his father’s gear has been sold now, for him to live. His father’s savings as an enforcer on the docks are all gone. Jonas is looking for opportunities now. He spent the last 2 years as a bodyguard. He learned through a few hard fights that he would rather use weapons at a distance. Because he was poor, his employers always provided his equipment (except his war club which he had made for himself). He’s changed in the last of his money for some light armor, and weapons – hoping to get into the mercenary trade and get out of Karolak – there’s nothing left for him there but bitter memories of his parent’s death. He’s been hanging out near the Brekinz du Gaff – the Warrior Brotherhood of Mizras’s “guild house” in Karolak. It is there that he has met Gide, of Gide’s Gallants. Gide has come the the Brekinz to seek instruction in tactics and military lore. His tales of travel and adventure interest Jonas very much and Gide offers to sponsor Jonas into the Gallants.
