The physical and mental durability of the character are increased due to some prolonged hardship and endurance required to survive. This is often in the form of military service, long military campaigns, trials of survival and the like. It has additional benefits if taken at the time of Character Inception.

Type: Kinetic

COST/REQ: Requirements = Min. Essence 5 for the benefits of time of Character Inception; if it ever drops below 5, the vitality of the character is impinged such that it negates the benefits of Toughness. If it ever is raised to 5 or more, the benefits are restored.

Common Benefits: If this is taken at the time of Character Inception, the character receives a +1 Sanity bonus, but must add 10% to their starting age (which may make them Hardened characters).
