Brobdingnagian (colossi/giant)

It is said by some that the Colossi are a result of mingled Elemental and Faeybrin Essence with Entrophy, an experiment infusing it into a new spark by Draconic occult practitioners – they have a latent Merovin spark-kinship within The Pattern. They are massive creatures compared to the Faelen humanoids, but humanoid nonetheless. The etymology of the term “Brobdingnagian” is at least partially Draconic.

There are no known “home worlds” of the Colossi, they seem to come straight from the Dream Realms. Some arise by abiogenesis there while others can be called forth from a strong presence of the element they are related to and celestial blood/energy by a Higher Order entity. From the Dreamwyld, they are pulled into the worlds they inhabit or set out from clans in the Faeywyld along Aelfpaths.

A Common Tongue: All of these creatures speak a form of Feyrish called Etinvir. The Colossi clans persist Etinvir usage to communicate between themselves, but most also learn to speak the languages of the worlds and planes they find themselves on.

A Creature of Appetite: These massive humanoids have great appetites of both sustenance and their associated clan properties. Colossi are hard-wired and drawn to their associated properties and cannot help themselves in pursuing it. Perhaps their evolution or design was meant to test the limits of focus and drive in their associated properties. They can also breed among themselves, across clans. These result in usually a hybrid that is impotent/barren. They do not typically do this, as many clans are opposed to the values and properties of others – hard-wired this way.

Disorder and Disunity: Colossi, despite being of one shared race, have little to no concept of unity between the sub species. Where it can be, those more associated with order and thought may band together factions across clan lines for survival or even in war, and while there is recognized differences in the overall power between the clans, their competitive appetites’ often come into conflict. When a ‘pecking order’ IS recognized for a reason, this hierarchy is called “The Etinin Syn” – the single vision of the giants.

Homage to None: The giants almost never pay homage to the gods of the anyone except in rare circumstances. It was never part of their culture – each culture rose independently of any caste or typical religion. This independent streak, and lack of unifying culture is perhaps why the giant races are nearly vanished from the places they initially inhabit. They try to live with the other species, fighting where necessary, collaborating where possible, but always consumed by their appetites in the end.
