Breath Bloom Flowers (dragon breath)

Another possible secondary effect of a dragon’s breath creating a Dream Pall. These flowers follow no natural patterns, being utterly alien among the local flora. They are colored to primarily reflect the dragon that created them. They form over the areas that the breath weapon ravaged after vegetation and flora grow back. Any attempt to destroy them en masse will result in the release of their combined full potential. This may cause additional destabilization in the ground, massive loss of insect and animal life, and laying bare and/or ruining the soil. It may also antagonize and activate Spiritus attached to the Dream Pall, or even provoke the wrath of natural flora and fauna through its magical powers.

There will be about 3-7 flowers each 2m cube. They may be obvious, may be mixed in with root and branch systems, hidden from view or plainly seen. The circumstances vary by time, place and random chance. Each flower is individual. They typically will do a death burst when a non-animal creature comes within .5m of them. It does not destroy any of the flora or fauna around it – only the target. They are consumed in their death burst, and will not grow back. It is said that some have discovered a way to cut and harvest the magical energy without destroying it or themselves. These are used to empower spells, formulae, rituals, and ceremonies. The latent growth is fueled by a violent wrench in planar barriers and life force from the Dreamwylds spilling through.
